We’ve broken it up into sections:
Make sure you meet all Instagram Connection Requirements
Connect your Instagram account to Archive
Connect your TikTok account to Archive
Tracking content with hashtags
Invite your teammates to Archive
Step 1: Make sure you meet all Instagram Connection Requirements
Before connecting your Instagram account to Archive, certain requirements must be met to ensure full functionality and proper content tracking. These requirements are essential for Archive to capture your tagged content, monitor mentions, and provide comprehensive analytics.
You have to ensure you have:
A professional Instagram account (Business or Creator)
A Facebook-linked page
Access to your TikTok business account
Admin permissions for all accounts
Ensure your Instagram account meets these requirements:
Professional account status (Business or Creator)
Facebook page connection
Message access enabled for Facebook
Story replies and message requests are enabled for all users

Step 2: Connect your Instagram account to Archive
To start tracking your Instagram brand mentions and content, Archive requires a connection to both your Instagram account and linked Facebook page. This setup process ensures proper access for content detection and analytics tracking.
Connect with Instagram Method
From the connection page, locate and click the Connect with Instagram button.
When prompted, click Continue as (Your Name) or switch to the Facebook Account with access to your business's Facebook Page. You will always need to access Facebook with a personal account.
A prompt will pop up showing the required permissions. Once everything is all set, click on Get started.
Another pop-up will appear prompting you to log in to your Instagram account. Input your credentials and click on Log in as soon as you're done.
To connect all your pages and Instagram accounts, select Opt in to all current and future Pages. For selective connection, choose Opt in to current Pages only and manually select the specific Facebook page linked to your Instagram account, then click Continue.
Select the business account that serves as the connection point between your Facebook page and Instagram account.
Choose your desired Instagram account from the available options, ensuring it matches the Facebook page and business account selected in previous steps.
Carefully review all permissions askedby Archive to confirm accuracy, then click Save to finalize your configuration.
Click on Got it (this confirms that your Facebook profile is already connected to Archive).
Review the errors from the connection screen. If you see a check mark on the Instagram account handle you want to connect with Archive, you can now click on Connect 1 account.
Why am I seeing a Facebook login screen? This is completely normal. All Instagram connection methods go through Facebook's login system, because Instagram is owned by Meta and uses Facebook for authentication. Even if you click "Connect with Instagram," you'll be redirected to Facebook login. This is expected behavior, not an error.
Connect with Facebook Method
The first time you try this, we will show the same options as the Instagram Method does. If you try again, it will just reuse the assets you previously selected. If you have trouble connecting your Instagram account, we strongly recommend trying the previous method.
Navigate to your settings page within your Archive app to access your account configuration options.
Click on Add Source to start the process of connecting a new social media platform.
Select the Instagram Account from the list of available social media sources.
Choose Connect with Facebook to establish the connection through your Facebook account.
If you have existing accounts connected to Archive, you may see a notification message. Simply click on Got it, let's continue to proceed with the setup.
For returning users, click on Edit Previous settings to modify existing connections, or click on Connect if this is your first time setting up Instagram integration.

Step 3: Connect your TikTok account to Archive
Connecting your TikTok account to Archive enables automatic tracking of brand mentions and content. Due to TikTok's security policies, this connection requires periodic renewal and specific setup steps for optimal functionality.
Since TikTok's platform policies require explicit permissions, connecting your account is necessary for Archive to gather video content effectively.
Connecting to TikTok v.1
Navigate to the left side of your screen and select Settings from the side menu.
Go to your Sources tab, click Add Source, and then select TikTok Account v.1.
After you click on TikTok Account, Archive will prompt you to Set Up Reminders.
Once you click on Set Up Reminders, a new window will appear where you can enter the email addresses to which we should send the reminders.
Please note that you can add multiple email addresses to receive the reminders. After you have entered all the desired emails, make sure to click on Connect TikTok to proceed.
After clicking Connect TikTok, a QR code will be displayed for you to scan and connect.
Wait for your QR code to load. It usually takes 2 minutes.
Open your TikTok Mobile app.
Go to your profile by tapping the "profile" icon.
From there, tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner.
Select Your QR code from the list
Tap the scan icon in the top right of your own QR code page
Wait while we redirect you back.
To see if your connection is successful, go to your Settings page and check the Sources section.
Troubleshooting TikTok v.1 Connection
If you run into issues during the TikTok v.1 connection flow, try the steps below based on where the process stops.
QR code does not load within 2 minutes: Refresh the page and try again, or close and reopen the Settings → Sources flow.
Scanning the QR code does not redirect back to Archive: Ensure the TikTok app is updated to the latest version, that you are logged into the correct TikTok account on your mobile device, and that your device camera has permission to scan QR codes.
Sources tab does not show an Active status after scanning: Wait 60 seconds and refresh the page. If the active status still does not appear, disconnect and reconnect using the steps above.
Issue persists after following all steps: Contact Archive Support via the in-app chat with a description of where in the flow the process stops.
Note: Due to TikTok's security policies, you'll need to reconnect your TikTok account with Archive every 180 days. To make things easier and prevent automatic disconnection, we can send you reminders by email — set them up during the connection flow. You can also check the days remaining for each connected account in Settings → Sources.
Connecting to TikTok v.2
Follow these simple steps to connect your TikTok account using our updated integration:
From your Archive App, go to the left side of your screen and select Settings from the side menu.
Go to your Sources tab and click on Add Source.
Choose TikTok Account v.2 from the available source options.
Click Continue to TikTok to begin the connection process.
If you're not logged into your TikTok account, you'll be redirected to the TikTok login page. If you're logged in, you'll see the permissions page showing what access Archive requests. For detection coverage, you need to enable all permissions.
Once you've reviewed and accepted the permissions, click Continue to finalize the connection.
Note: Due to TikTok's security policies, you'll need to reconnect your TikTok account with Archive every 360 days. You can check the days remaining for each connected account in Settings → Sources.
To confirm your connection was successful, go to Settings > Sources. Your TikTok username should appear with a status of Active.
If you encounter any issues during this process, try:
Ensuring your TikTok app is up to date
Checking that you're logged into the correct TikTok account
Verifying your device's camera can properly scan QR codes
Making sure you have a stable internet connection
Notes:
TikTok connections need renewal every 180 or 360 days
Archive will send reminder emails before the connection expiration
All permissions must be enabled for full functionality

Step 4: Tracking content with hashtags

Find "Settings" by hovering over the tab menu on the left side of your screen.
Navigate to the "Source" tab in your settings panel.
Click the blue "Add Source" button.
Under "Hashtags", select which social media platform you want to track (Instagram, TikTok, etc.).
Enter your campaign hashtag in the input field (without the # symbol).
Review your entry and click "Add Source" to begin tracking.
Note:
Adding a popular hashtag can easily bump up the number of your Social Profiles and your monthly UGC content count. If you really want to track a popular hashtag, feel free to send us a message through chat or email.
