To start detecting content from your TikTok brand mentions, you must connect Archive with your TikTok account. Follow the instructions below for a onboarding process.
Archive now has two different methods to connect to TikTok:
TikTok v.1: Capable of sending DMs to your creators (Manage Rights feature)
TikTok v.2: Can't send DMs to your creators, but has better coverage.
You don't need to choose between one of them; you can get the best of the two options.
Reminder:
You must check if they are logged into the correct account (via mobile app) before connecting to Archive.
Before proceeding, please check your TikTok Settings to see if the Mentions and tag notifications are enabled.
Connecting to TikTok v.1
Navigate to the left side of your screen and select Settings from the side menu.
Go to your Sources tab, click Add Source, and then select TikTok Account v.1.
After you click on TikTok Account, Archive will prompt you to Set Up Reminders.
Once you click on Set Up Reminders, a new window will appear where you can enter the email addresses to which we should send the reminders.
Please note that you can add multiple email addresses to receive the reminders. After you have entered all the desired emails, make sure to click on Connect TikTok to proceed.
After clicking Connect TikTok, a QR code will be displayed for you to scan and connect.
Wait for your QR code to load. It usually takes 2 minutes.
Open your TikTok Mobile app.
Go to your profile by tapping the "profile" icon.
From there, tap the three horizontal lines in the top right corner.
Select Your QR code from the list
Tap the scan icon in the top right of your own QR code page
Wait while we redirect you back.
To see if your connection is successful, go to your Settings page and check the Sources section.
Troubleshooting TikTok v.1 Connection
If you run into issues during the TikTok v.1 connection flow, try the steps below based on where the process stops.
QR code does not load within 2 minutes: Refresh the page and try again, or close and reopen the Settings β Sources flow.
Scanning the QR code does not redirect back to Archive: Ensure the TikTok app is updated to the latest version, that you are logged into the correct TikTok account on your mobile device, and that your device camera has permission to scan QR codes.
Sources tab does not show an Active status after scanning: Wait 60 seconds and refresh the page. If the active status still does not appear, disconnect and reconnect using the steps above.
Issue persists after following all steps: Contact Archive Support via the in-app chat with a description of where in the flow the process stops.
Note: Due to TikTok's security policies, you'll need to reconnect your TikTok account with Archive every 180 days. To make things easier and prevent automatic disconnection, we can send you reminders by email β set them up during the connection flow. You can also check the days remaining for each connected account in Settings β Sources.
Connecting to TikTok v.2
Follow these simple steps to connect your TikTok account using our updated integration:
From your Archive App, go to the left side of your screen and select Settings from the side menu.
Go to your Sources tab and click on Add Source.
Choose TikTok Account v.2 from the available source options.
Click Continue to TikTok to begin the connection process.
If you're not logged into your TikTok account, you'll be redirected to the TikTok login page. If you're logged in, you'll see the permissions page showing what access Archive requests. For detection coverage, you need to enable all permissions.
Once you've reviewed and accepted the permissions, click Continue to finalize the connection.
Note: Due to TikTok's security policies, you'll need to reconnect your TikTok account with Archive every 360 days. You can check the days remaining for each connected account in Settings β Sources.
Disconnection Notifications
When your TikTok connection ends, Archive lets you know in three ways.
These notifications are different from the TikTok v.1 reminder emails. Reminders are scheduled in advance to help you reconnect before the 180-day expiration. Disconnection notifications are sent after a disconnection has already occurred β for v.1, v.2, or any other reason, TikTok ends the session.
Email Notification: An email is sent automatically with the subject [ACTION REQUIRED]: TikTok Reconnection Needed. It includes a Reconnect button and a link to the relevant help article.
The email is sent to every user with access to the workspace, using the email address registered on their Archive profile. The sender is [email protected].In-App Notification: If you're actively using Archive when your TikTok account disconnects, a pop-up appears in the workspace with a Connect Now button that takes you to the reconnection flow.
Status Indicator in Settings: In Settings β Sources, any disconnected TikTok account is flagged with a red Disconnected status next to it. You can check it anytime to confirm the state of each connected account.
Troubleshooting Email Delivery
If you suspect you haven't been receiving disconnection emails, check the following:
Spam or promotions folders. These emails sometimes get filtered. Add [email protected] to your safe sender list to prevent this.
Email registered on your Archive profile. Confirm it's correct and up to date.
Workspace access. Users who were removed from the workspace will no longer receive notifications.
If you've checked all the above and are still missing notifications, contact support so we can investigate delivery on our end.
