When you connect an Instagram professional account to Archive through Meta, Meta asks you to approve several permissions. Together, these permissions let Archive connect the correct Business Portfolio, Facebook Page, and Instagram account; detect content that tags or mentions your brand; and support messaging features that you choose to use.
⚠️ Keep every requested permission selected. Turning off a permission can prevent the account from connecting or stop parts of the integration from working.
The wording on Meta's access screen can sound broader than the way Archive uses these permissions. Archive uses them to connect your accounts, detect and collect content, and complete actions you initiate in Archive. It does not independently publish or delete social posts, remove comments, or change your account settings.
Manage Your Business
Archive uses this permission to identify the Business Portfolio that owns your Facebook Page and Instagram account and to establish the connection between those assets and Archive.
Meta may describe this permission as managing everything in the portfolio. Archive does not use it to delete your portfolio, change its settings, or take control of your business assets.
Access Profile and Posts From the Selected Instagram Account
Archive uses this permission to read the selected Instagram account's profile information and posts. This lets Archive collect the account's own content and connect it with tagged content discovered through Meta.
Manage Comments for the Selected Instagram Account
Meta requires this permission for Archive to retrieve posts that tag your Instagram professional account and to receive real-time webhook notifications for mentions in captions and comments.
Archive uses this access to detect and collect relevant content. It does not use the permission to publish, edit, or delete comments on your behalf.
Manage and Access Messages for the Instagram Account
Instagram delivers Story mentions through its messaging channel, so Archive needs message access to detect when another account tags your brand in a Story.
This permission also supports messaging features that you actively choose to use, including Usage Rights requests and creator messaging. Archive sends those messages only after someone in your workspace initiates the action; it does not independently browse or manage unrelated conversations.
Read Content Posted on the Page
Archive uses this permission to read content from the Facebook Page linked to your Instagram account. The Page is part of the asset connection Meta uses to authorize access to the Instagram professional account.
Manage Accounts, Settings, and Webhooks, and Access Content Enforcement Data for a Page
Archive uses this permission to establish and maintain the Page connection and subscribe to Meta webhooks. Webhooks send real-time notifications when supported activity occurs, including mentions, comments, and messages, so Archive can detect new content automatically.
Archive does not use this permission to change your Page settings or perform content-enforcement actions.
Show a List of the Pages You Manage
Archive uses this permission to identify the Facebook Pages available to the person completing the connection. This lets you select the Page linked to the Instagram account you want to connect.
How to Check and Enable Permissions
Log in to the Facebook account you have access to Archive during the connection process.
Click on your photo at the top right corner of the screen.
Choose Settings & Privacy and click on Settings.
Locate Business integrations on the side bar options and click on it.
Click View and edit
Check all permissions if they are enabled.
If one or more are disabled, please enable them and choose the right corresponding accounts/portfolio/pages for them.
Why All Permissions Must Stay Enabled
Meta presents these permissions as part of the integration's access request. They work together across the Business Portfolio, Facebook Page, and Instagram account. If one is left unselected or later removed, Archive may be unable to complete the connection or receive the content and notifications that depend on it.
If a permission was removed, update the Archive App under Facebook's Business Integrations settings, enable every requested permission, save the changes, and reconnect the account in Archive. See Modifying Facebook Business Integration Settings for the steps.
