What this error means
This is a Meta API error that shows up when the Facebook account you used to connect doesn't have the right level of access to the Page linked to your Instagram account. Archive is trying to request message access through that Page, but Meta is blocking it because your Facebook account doesn't have sufficient Page permissions.
This is different from the message access toggle being off—this one is about your role on the Page itself.
How to fix it
You need full admin-level access (called "Full control") to the Facebook Page in question.
Check your current Page access
Go to Meta Business Suite
Make sure you're in the correct Business Portfolio
Click Settings, then Pages
Find the Page and check what access level is listed next to your name
If you don't have Full control, here's how to get it (you'll need someone who already has admin access to do this for you, or do it yourself if you're already an admin):
Go to Meta Business Suite and make sure you're in the correct Business Portfolio.
Click Settings, then select Pages.
Find and your name, then click the Manage button.
Scroll down and toggle on Full control.
Click Save to confirm.
If don't have access to the Meta Business
Whoever owns or manages the Page will need to add you. Share this step-by-step process with them:
Go to Meta Business Settings.
In the left-hand menu, click People.
Click on Invite People.
Enter the email address of the person you want to invite and click Next.
It's essential that this is a personal account that already exists.
Enable "Full Control" and click Next.
To connect to Archive, the invited user must have full control.
Choose the assets (Pages, Ad Accounts, Instagram Accounts, etc.) you want to assign to them, and set their permissions: Full Control (Everything).
The list of assets must include at least a Facebook Page and an Instagram account.
Finally, double-check that you are granting the user "Full Control: Everything" for all selected assets and click Send Invitation.
Note: The invited user should accept the invitation within the next 30 days.
After updating your permissions
Go back to Archive and click Reconnect. Log in with the same Facebook account. The error should be gone.
