If you need Archive to capture content that was posted before you added a source (creator, hashtag, keyword), you can bring it in with a historical content pull. For hashtag and mention sources, you can now run the backfill yourself from Settings. This article explains the self-serve paths and who to contact for everything else.
When You Might Need a Historical Pull
You just added a new creator as a source and want their past posts in your workspace
You launched a campaign late and want to capture content posted before the campaign was set up
You added a new hashtag or keyword and want to backfill content from earlier
You reconnected an account and want to pull the period where tracking was paused
Archive never backfills historical content automatically — adding a source is forward-only. To bring past content in, use one of the self-serve paths below or request a pull.
Self-Serve Backfill (No Request Needed)
There are three customer-facing paths that trigger a historical pull — no support request needed.
Backfill a hashtag or mention source (Settings) — go to Settings → Sources, open the ••• menu next to the hashtag or mention source, and select Backfill history. Choose a start date up to 60 days in the past — Archive pulls matching content from that date through today. Backfills run in the background: you'll see confirmation that the backfill started, but there is no completion notification or final item count yet. Creator sources are not supported yet, and date ranges further back than 60 days follow the request process below.
Social Profiles drawer (with detection on) — when you add or label a social profile and turn detection on, Archive pulls in that profile's past posts that match your tracked hashtags or mentions. The drawer confirms this in-product: "Content these profiles already posted that matches your tracked hashtags or mentions will be added now and counted toward this month's UGC limit."
Creator Monitoring or Brand Monitoring campaign with a past start date — when you create the campaign with a Start Date in the past, Archive backfills content from Instagram and TikTok back to that date. The campaign creation flow confirms this: "A start date in the past pulls content these creators already posted. It is added now and counts toward this month's UGC limit."
⚠️ Historical pulls count against the current month. Content pulled through any self-serve path is added now and charged against the current month's UGC limit — not the month it was originally posted. Content beyond your remaining allowance is hidden by your UGC limit — see what happens to content hidden by your UGC limit.
Note: Legacy Content Capture campaigns do not include automatic historical backfill and will follow the standard request process outlined below.
Who to Contact
For hashtag and mention sources within the last 60 days, no request is needed — use the self-serve backfill above. For creator sources, other backfills, or older date ranges, where to send your request depends on the time range you want backfilled.
Later Than 60 Days
For content posted in the current calendar month, contact Archive Support via the in-app chat. Support can handle same-month backfills directly.

What to Include in Your Request
To help the team process your request quickly, include:
Your Workspace ID (Settings → bottom-left corner)
The source(s) to backfill — creator handles, hashtags, keywords, or campaign name
The platform(s) — Instagram, TikTok, YouTube
The date range you want covered (start and end date)
The reason for the backfill — helps prioritize and, for campaign pulls, ensures the content ends up in the right place
What to Expect
Historical pulls are processed in batches and can take several hours to complete, depending on the volume of content and the platform.
Once processed, backfilled content appears in your workspace under the same filters and views as your regular content.
Historical pulls count against the current month's UGC limit — content is charged for the month it enters Archive, not the month it was originally posted. Pulls may also consume content credits on plans with credit-based limits. Check your plan details or ask the team if unsure.
Limitations
Deleted or private content cannot be recovered. Archive can only capture content that is still publicly available on the source platform.
Platform-specific limits apply. For example, Instagram Stories expire after 24 hours and cannot be pulled retroactively.
Detection is not 100%. For keyword- or hashtag-based historical pulls on YouTube and Instagram, some matching content may not be recoverable due to platform search limitations.
Self-serve source backfill covers hashtag and mention sources only. Creator sources are not supported yet — use the request process above for those.
