Location Filters

Filter content and creators by location in Social Listening, Creator Search, and Competitor Insights.

Location filters let you narrow content and creators by place: where a creator is based, or where a post was tagged. Use them to plan regional campaigns, find creators near a store opening or event, or see how your brand shows up in a specific market.

The Two Location Filters

Creator Location

Filters by where the creator is based. Archive uses AI to work this out from the creator's profile (bio, name, username, and other profile details), then maps it to a Country → State → City hierarchy. The same creator location data is used on every surface where the filter appears.

UGC Location

Filters by where a post was tagged, using Instagram geotags and TikTok location tags. It only covers posts where the creator added a location.

Using Both Together

In the Content tab you can combine the two filters. For example, you could find Los Angeles-based creators who posted content tagged in Paris. Results are limited to the overlap between the two filters, so expect far fewer matches. Only combine them when you need that level of precision.

Where to Find Location Filters

In each place below, click Add Filter and search "location."

Social Listening → Content Tab

Creator Location and UGC Location, for content already in your workspace.

Social Listening → Creators Page

You'll see two location filters here:

  • Creator Location is the creator's location as Archive detects it from their profile, the same data used everywhere else in this article.

  • Location is a custom field your team fills in and edits on each creator record. You filter it by typing text, for example "contains Brazil."

Creator Search

Creator Location, for finding new creators you haven't worked with yet.

Competitor Insights

Creator Location, in both Top Content and Top Influencers.

Choosing Locations

Search by English Place Name

Type the English name and pick the matching location. Results include anything tagged with a variant of that place. For example, selecting "Tokyo, Japan" also returns 東äșŹ, Tƍkyƍ, and TĂłquio. Local nicknames ("Jogja"), airport codes ("STL"), and area names ("Gran Canaria") also map to their standard location.

Select a Whole Region

Instead of picking countries one by one, you can select continents (Europe, Asia, Americas) or multi-country groups (EU, DACH, LATAM). Region groups work with Creator Location and UGC Location everywhere these filters appear.

Pin Locations You Use Often

In the Content tab and in Competitor Insights, open a location filter, hover over a place, and click the pin icon. Pinned places stay at the top of the list, and you can pin up to 50. Pins are shared across your workspace, so everyone on your team sees the same pinned places. Click the icon again to unpin. Pinning isn't available on the Creators page or in Creator Search.

📋 Note: Pinning is still rolling out, so you may not see the pin icon in your workspace yet.

Coverage and Limitations

Not every creator or post has location data. When a location filter is on, anything without location data is excluded, and this applies on every surface. Treat filtered results as a subset of what exists for that place, not a full count.

Tips

Start at the country or state level before narrowing to a city. Pair location filters with keywords and brand mentions for the best results.
