Archive automatically transcribes video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, Stories, etc.) so you can read, search, and analyze what creators are saying without watching every video.

What is Transcription?

When a video is collected by Archive, its audio is automatically transcribed into text. This transcription appears in the content detail modal, allowing you to quickly read what was said in the video.

Where to Find Transcriptions

  1. Navigate to your Content Library or a Campaign

  2. Click on any video content to open the detail modal

  3. Look for the Transcription section below the video preview

The full text of what was said in the video will be displayed there.

Searching by Transcription

Transcriptions are indexed by Super Search, which means you can search for specific words or phrases that were spoken in videos. This is useful for:

  • Finding all videos where a creator mentioned your brand name

  • Locating content that discusses a specific product or feature

  • Filtering UGC by keywords spoken in the video (not just captions or hashtags)

Transcription and AI Features

Transcriptions power several AI features in Archive:

  • AI Post Summary β€” uses the transcription to generate a short summary of the video content

  • AI Sentiment Analysis β€” analyzes the tone and sentiment of what was said (available on Growth, Enterprise, Agency, and Custom plans)

  • Magic Fields β€” AI-powered custom fields that can extract information from video content. Magic Fields process content independently from transcription, so they do not require the transcription to be completed first

How Transcription Works

  • Transcription is triggered automatically when video content is collected

  • Multiple languages are supported β€” the language is detected automatically from the audio

  • Very low-confidence audio (e.g. background noise with no clear speech) is filtered out to avoid inaccurate transcriptions

  • Some video formats may not be supported for transcription. In these cases, no transcription will appear

FAQ

Which content types are transcribed?

Any video content collected by Archive β€” Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, Instagram Stories, and YouTube Shorts.

Why is the transcription missing on some content?

Transcription may not appear if:

  • The video has no spoken audio (e.g. music only, or a silent video)

  • The audio is just background noise with no clear speech

  • The video format is not supported for transcription

  • The content is an image or carousel (not a video)

I see an incorrect transcription on a video with only noise. Why?

Older content may have transcriptions generated before the low-confidence filter was applied. For new content, videos with only background noise will not produce a transcription.

Can I search for content by what was said in a video?

Yes. Use Super Search and type any word or phrase β€” it will match against transcriptions as well as captions and hashtags.
