Archive automatically transcribes video content (Instagram Reels, TikTok videos, Stories, etc.) so you can read, search, and analyze what creators are saying without watching every video.
When a video is collected by Archive, its audio is automatically transcribed into text. The transcript appears in the content's details panel, allowing you to quickly read what was said in the video.
Finding Transcriptions
Navigate to your Content Library or a Campaign
Click any video to open its details
In the details panel on the right, scroll past Captions to the Transcript section
The full text of what was said in the video will be displayed there.
Searching by Transcription
You can search what creators say in their videos using Super Search, but transcripts aren't searched by default. Super Search starts in In Visual Search Only mode, which matches what appears in the video, not what's said. To search spoken words, switch the mode to In Transcripts. To search post text, use In Captions. See Super Search Filters for more on each mode.
Searching transcripts is useful for:
Finding all videos where a creator mentioned your brand name
Locating content that discusses a specific product or feature
Finding UGC by words spoken in the video, even when the caption doesn't mention them
Transcription and AI Features
Transcriptions power several AI features in Archive:
AI Post Summary â uses the transcription, when available, to enrich a short summary of the video content
AI Sentiment Analysis â analyzes the tone and sentiment of what was said (available on Growth, Enterprise, Agency, and Custom plans)
AI Filters (formerly Magic Fields) â AI-powered custom fields that extract information from your content. Filters that rely on what's said in a video wait for the transcription to finish before they run; filters based on visuals, captions, or metadata run without it
How Transcription Works
Transcription is triggered automatically when video content is collected
Multiple languages are supported â the language is detected automatically from the audio
Very low-confidence audio (e.g. background noise with no clear speech) is filtered out to avoid inaccurate transcriptions
For YouTube videos and Shorts, the transcript comes from the captions available on YouTube, including auto-generated ones
Some video formats may not be supported for transcription. In these cases, no transcription will appear
Common Questions
Which content types are transcribed?
Any video content with spoken audio collected by Archive: Instagram Reels, Instagram Stories, Instagram carousels that include video, TikTok videos, TikTok Stories, and YouTube videos and Shorts.
Why is the transcription missing on some content?
Transcription may not appear if:
The video has no spoken audio (e.g. music only, or a silent video)
The audio is just background noise with no clear speech
The video format is not supported for transcription
The content is a photo, or a carousel with only images
For YouTube, the video has no captions available on YouTube
I see an incorrect transcription on a video with only noise. Why?
Older content may have transcriptions generated before the low-confidence filter was applied. For new content, videos with only background noise will not produce a transcription.
Can I search for content by what was said in a video?
Yes. In Super Search, switch the search mode to In Transcripts, then type a word or phrase. The default mode doesn't look at transcripts.
