Archive now provides estimated view counts for your Instagram feed posts, including photos and carousels. This feature helps you get a more complete picture of your content's reach and performance.

Understanding Estimated Views

Instagram doesn't publicly share view counts for feed posts the way it does for Reels. This used to mean your analytics would show views for some content types but not others, making it harder to compare performance across your posts.

Archive now calculates estimated views for your Instagram photos and carousels based on engagement data. You'll see these estimates alongside your other metrics, giving you consistent analytics across all your Instagram content.

How It Works

Estimated views for Instagram Feed posts are calculated using a follower-based estimation model — similar to the approach used for Stories — rather than solely from engagement data. This gives you a reasonable approximation of how many people likely saw the content.

A few things to keep in mind:

  • These are estimates, not exact numbers from Instagram

  • Estimated views are for display purposes only and do not affect Instagram Feed EMV — EMV for Feed posts remains calculated from engagement (likes and comments)

  • Estimated views help explain your Earned Media Value (EMV) calculations for feed posts

  • Estimated views appear in the content list view (table format); tooltips will show 'Estimated Views' for this metric. They are not visible in the UGC modal (the detail view when you open a single post)

  • Estimated views are included in CSV exports from the Content page

  • The tooltip in the platform shows 'Impressions = Views' for this metric — the two terms refer to the same underlying number for Feed posts

  • The feature works automatically on all Instagram feed content in your Archive account

Why This Matters

Previously, you might have noticed that some posts showed EMV but had no view count displayed. That's because we were calculating value based on engagement, but couldn't show you the underlying reach. Now you'll see estimated views that make those EMV numbers make more sense.

This gives you a more complete view of your content performance and makes it easier to compare results across different post formats.
